The Energym Comets are under the instruction of Director, Sheri Wigant and eight team coaches Misty Odom, Brittany Kilgus, Melissa Motz, Randi Jensen, Ashley Wigant, Emily Woodard, Kristen Heath, and Amanda Wigant.

 

All together the instructors have over 30 years of cheerleading experience from middle school, high school and college level cheerleading experience along with elementary, middle school, and high school level coaching experience. One of our instructors is also nationally certified cheer judge for Cheer Ltd.

 

A bit about our Instructors:

 

Sheri Wigant

Sheri is currently the owner and director of the Energym Comet All Star Cheer Team. Sheri is a certified judge for Cheer Ltd,. is ASEP certified, a UCA Coaching Trainer, and a SUPER CDA Coaching Trainer. Sheri choreographed the tumbling sequences for the Comets this year. Sheri spent the previous 11 years as the Head Cheerleading Coach for Genoa-Kingston High School. During those years she took her teams to 3 National Competitions and numerous local and statewide competitions. In 2004, her Small Varsity Co-Ed team placed 2nd runner up at the Canam Nationals held in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Sheri has previously coached the Dundee Junior Chargers Pop Warner Cheerleaders for two years and coached for three years for the EYFL Genoa Broncos Cheerleaders.

 

Misty Odom

Misty is coaching the junior team for the Comets for her second year this year. Misty cheered at the Genoa Kingston Middle School and High School.

 

Randi Jensen

Randi is coaching the Junior team this year. Randi has cheered for 6 years, at both the Middle School and High School level. She competed under the direction of Sheri Wigant for 4 of those years and was a member of the 2004 Small Varsity Coed Team who placed 2nd runner up at the Canam Nationals in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Randi is currently attending NIU, pursuing a degree in finance and is excited about being a member of our coaching staff this year.

Brittany Kilgus

Brittany "Bertie" Kilgus is coaching the Youth Team this year along with Melissa Motz for the Comets. Brittany cheered for Genoa Kingston Middle School in 7th and 8th grade. She also cheered for Genoa Kingston High School under the direction of Sheri Wigant her freshmen year. She then went on to cheer under the direction of Sheri Wigant her Sophomore, Junior, and Senior year for the Energym Comets Senior Team. Brittany coached the Genoa Broncos Cheerleaders for 2 years with Ashley Wigant. Brittany will be attending Kishwaukee College in the fall.

Melissa Motz

Melissa Motz is coaching the Youth Team this year along with Brittany Kilgus. Melissa cheered for Genoa Kingston Middle School in 7th and 8th grade. She also cheered for Genoa Kingston High School under the direction of Sheri Wigant her senior year. Melissa is a senior this year at Northern Illinois University and is pursuing a degree in History, to be a teacher.

Emily Woodard

Emily is assistant coaching for all Comet teams this year. Emily cheered at the high school level under the direction of Sheri Wigant. Emily has applied to Northern Illinois University for the fall semester to pursue a bachelors degree in Sociology.

Ashley Wigant

Ashley Wigant will just be assistant coaching for the summer season. She cheered for the Genoa Broncos for two years, Genoa Kingston Middle School for two years, for the Genoa Kingston High School for one year, and has cheered for the Energym Comets All Star Cheer Team for three years. She coached the Genoa Broncos for two years. Ashley will be attending Carroll University in the fall and plans on cheering for the Pioneers while majoring in Physical Therapy.

Kristen Heath

Kristen is coaching the senior team for her third year. Kristen cheered at the Middle School and High School level. Kristen competed under the direction of Sheri Wigant and was a member of the 2004 Small Varsity Coed Team who placed 2nd runner up at the Canam Nationals in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Kristen also assisted in coaching at the Genoa Middle School for two years. Kristen coached the EYFL Bronco Cheerleaders for three years. Kristen co-choreographed the All Girl, Co-Ed and Individual Routines for Comets in the 2006-2007 competition season, as well as the Senior competition routine for the 2007-2008 season.

 

Amanda Wigant

Amanda is coaching the senior team for her third year this year. Amanda cheered her freshman year at Monmouth College for the Fighting Scots. Amanda cheered all four years at Genoa Kingston High School and was a member of the 2004 Small Varsity Coed Team who placed 2nd runner up at the Canam Nationals in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and also competed at the WCA Nationals held in Nashville, Tennessee in 2000. Amanda has four years of coaching experience with the EYFL Broncos Cheerleaders and five years as an assistant cheer coach at the Genoa-Kingston Middle School. Amanda is currently attending Aurora University and will be graduating in May with a degree in special education. Amanda co-choregraphed the All Girl, Co-Ed and Individual Routines for Comets in the 2006-2007 competition season, as well as the Senior Team competition routine in the 2007-2008 season.
